Communication Arts and Reading

We are currently in our Narrative/Descriptive unit which focuses on story-telling and figurative language. In narrative, the author's purpose is to entertain.

AR Requirements

Students are required to read and test on AR books 2nd-4th quarter. Every student has an individual goal based on their reading level and abilities. They are able to check what their goal is, and their progress towards that goal, every time they log in to AR. Students are not able to take tests while not on the school's server (at home).

The whole world opened to me...when I learned to read.

Mrs. Giuliani

I am a former graduate of CHS and have lived in Cuba for a large part of my life. After graduating in 2007, I attended college at Missouri State University in Springfield and earned my degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Developmental Reading. I moved back to Cuba in 2012 where I taught pre-school and ran the After-School program at Wise Little Owls for two years. I then worked as a paraprofessional in the elementary school before moving to ELA in 6th grade where I have been for the past 10 years. I love teaching middle school!   I graduated with my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist in 2020. In my spare time, I enjoy watching tv/movies, reading, traveling, and playing with my sweet pets.

Meet Mrs. Edwards:

Hello, Wildcat family! I’m Mrs. Edwards, and I’m excited to begin my second year at Cuba Middle School. While this is year two here, it’s actually my 31st year in education! Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching high school, middle school, science, social studies, language, special education, and even Pre-K.

I grew up on a Southern plantation, and life has taken me on some pretty fun adventures—raising quail, mules, and Labradors, and even ziplining! I’m married to my best friend, who is both a cowboy preacher and a sheriff’s deputy, and we love the life we have been blessed with.

One of my greatest passions is reading, and I can’t wait to share that love with my students this year. I am so thankful to be part of the Wildcat community, and I’m looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growing together!
