Communication Arts and Reading

We are currently in our Narrative/Descriptive unit which focuses on story-telling and figurative language. In narrative, the author's purpose is to entertain.

AR Requirements

Students are required to read and test on AR books 2nd-4th quarter. Every student has an individual goal based on their reading level and abilities. They are able to check what their goal is, and their progress towards that goal, every time they log in to AR. Students are not able to take tests while not on the school's server (at home).

The whole world opened to me...when I learned to read.

Mrs. Giuliani

I am a former graduate of CHS and have lived in Cuba for a large part of my life. After graduating in 2007, I attended college at Missouri State University in Springfield and earned my degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Developmental Reading. I moved back to Cuba in 2012 where I taught pre-school and ran the After-School program at Wise Little Owls for two years. I then worked as a paraprofessional in the elementary school before moving to ELA in 6th grade where I have been for the past 8 years. I love teaching middle school! I coach the Drill Team and the Odyssey of the Mind team. We were so excited to be able to attend World Finals again last year, and I can't wait to start a new round this year! I graduated with my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist in 2020. In my spare time, I enjoy watching tv/movies, reading, traveling, and playing with my sweet pets.
